Murowa Diamonds Mine says it has experienced about 300% growth in production in the past 3 years since the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange listed company RioZim assumed control in 2015.
Murowa Diamond Mine which is located near Zvishavane, started its operations in 2004.
Appearing before the parliamentary portfolio committee on mining where he was giving oral evidence on the operations of the diamond company, RioZim Chief Executive Officer Mr Bhekinkosi Nkomo said diamond production has increased from the previous 70 tonnes per hour to 190 tonnes per hour, due to reduced manual labour and increased use of modern equipment.
Mr Nkomo added that the diamonds mine, which is also involved in infrastructural development in the education, health, agriculture and economic sectors, expects to increase its production by 200% this year.
