Chrome Miners in Mapanzure area say traditional leaders with the aid of a mining committee should control the buying and selling of chrome by local investors.
Miners told YAFM news that they are facing numerous challenges with Chinese investors who are also buying their chrome at low and inconsistent prices.
They stressed that investors should rely on prices gazetted by Apple Bridge Minerals Marketing Cooperation of Zimbabwe
Miners stressed that Chinese investors buy their chrome for as little as $30 a tonne compared to a minimum of $105 by Apple Bridge.
Speaking to YAFM news on the sideline of a meeting held at Mapanzure clinic with local community aimed at engaging local investors to seed back to the community, Chief Mapanzure underscored the need for miners to unite and speak with one voice against on the issue of chrome prices.
