CHROME MINERS PUSH FOR OWNERSHIP OF CLAIMS

The Confederation of Zimbabwe Small Scale Chrome Miners Association says small scale chrome miners need ownership of claims, to enable them to source financial aid so they can participate in the country’s chrome production.
Speaking to YA FM news, the small scale miners’ lobby group Secretary General Antony Msipa said although Zimasco seeded 50% of its chrome claims to government, the claims were not distributed equally amongst small scale miners as most of them do not have access to these claims.
Government last year reallocated chrome claims secured from Zimasco, which previously owned 80% of all chrome claims in the country, and small scale miners were expected to get about 10 000 hectares of these claims.
