Zimbabwe Diamond and Allied Minerals Workers Union General Secretary Mr Justine Chinhema has challenged government to involve workers in boards that regulate licensing of investors saying the development is a step towards acknowledging safety in the mining sector.
In an interview with YAFM news Mr Chinhema stressed that as a board they are advocating for enforcement of minimum safety standards in the mining sector and have already engaged NSSA on the development.
His concern comes after the death of four mine workers from Recount Mine owned by Mr Lee Chen in Norton recently.
Meanwhile General Secretary for Norton Miners Association, Dr Chichi says lives could have been saved if miners were properly trained and ensure they work under safe conditions.
