CHINA RELEASES $200M FOR HWANGE POWER STATION EXPANSION

The government of China through the EximBank of China has released $200 million to SinoHydro Power as part payment to start the expansion of Hwange Power Station.
Mr Huang Ping the Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe told the media that the company had received money to commence construction work. He said China is working close with Zimbabwe to implement the fruits of President Mnangagwa’s state visit to China.
Ambassador Huang also said the project would bring a lot of tangible benefits to the people of Zimbabwe.
Hwange Power Station is the biggest plant in Zimbabwe with an installed capacity of 920MW.
