GWERU COUNCIL TO CONSTRUCT NEW LANDFILL SITE

Gweru City Council says it is currently in negotiations with the ministry of lands to acquire land for a landfill site.
Gweru city Health Services Director Samson Sekenhamo says once council secures the land they want to construct a site that will enable prosper solid waste disposal.
He says council has plans to purchase machinery to construct a proper disposal site at the new site.
He says they are currently collecting about 42 tonnes of solid waste per month. The current dumpsite is presenting health challenges to residents from Woodlands who are affected by flies and smoke from the dumpsite.
