Zimbabwe and Allied Minerals Workers Union yesterday clashed with authorities at Sanhe He Holdings following the latter`s alleged refusal to allow the union to inspect its premises.
The union was responding to allegations of unfair labour practices at the mine.
A YA FM news crew witnessed the incident in which an official from the mine denied the union officials led by the General Secretary Mr Justice Chinhema being denied access to the premises.
This happened coincidentally when one of the employees, William Dube got his finger cut while operating one of the mine equipment and had to be rushed to a local hospital.
Sanhe He employees have always been complaining of unfair labour practices at the mine including long working hours, lack of ablution facilities, working without adequate protective clothing and low remunerations.
Meanwhile, Environmental Management Agency’s Education and Publicity officer for Zvishavane District Mrs Sally Maguvu says they have engaged the company and it is currently constructing toilets at the working site.
