LOCAL MINES HAILED FOR WASTE MANAGEMENT INITIATIVES

Environmental Management Agency (EMA) has urged  mining companies to take their commendable waste management initiatives to communities and towns surrounding them.

Speaking on the sidelines of an event on wetlands commemoration held in Murowa Diamonds Mine on Tuesday,  EMA ‘s Midlands Provincial Education and Publicity Officer, Mr Simon Musasiwa  says the thrust of the organisation is to work with communities in achieving  sustainable waste management pillars enshrined within the Zimbabwe’s integrated waste management plan.
Mr Musasiwa hailed  mimosa mining company for establishing  biogas digestors  and  also composting plants for  employees at the the high density village during the first commemorations held at Mimosa Mine on the 1st of June the same month saying the initiative will go a long way in ensuring that employees and surrounding communities .
Live in a clean, safe and healthy environment.
  This years’ commemorations are going under the theme ” beat plastic pollution-if you cant re-use it ,refuse it.”
