People’s Democratic Party Leader, Advocate Tendai Biti says the country needs to strengthen its position with the Kimberly Process Certification scheme to curb diamond leakages.

Speaking during the launch of the MDC Alliance Manifesto yesterday, Advocate Biti, who is also the country’s former minister of finance says among its priorities once elected into office the Alliance party will transform regulations governing the mining sector to achieve value addition and beneficiation.
His sentiments however reckons the current government agenda on amending indigenisation and empowerment laws in the mining sector particularly on diamond and platinum mines which were hindering meaningful operations.
