Zimbabwe Teachers Association (ZIMTA) says it is committed to fighting child labour in the country, especially in Manicaland Province.
The country, yesterday, joined the rest of the world in commemorating World Child Labour Day.
In a press statement, the teachers’ representative body said it has made commendable efforts in trying to curb child labour, with the help of organisations such as Education International, Zimbabwe National Council for the Welfare of Children and many others.
According to UNICEF, 15% of children aged between 5 and 14 years who are exposed to child labour in Zimbabwe, are deprived of their right to education.
