GOVT SETS AMBITOUS 5 YEAR GOLD PRODUCTION TARGET

The government is targeting to increase the country gold reserves to about 100 tonnes in the next five years by establishing gold service centres in mineral rich areas in the country.
This comes after government officially opened the country`s first gold centre in Bubi district last week at the same time a Gold Mobilisation centre was also opened in Mberengwa.
The gold centre which will create employment as well improve production within the small scale mining sector.
Vice President Constantino Chiwenga says through the gold centres government wants to ensure that the small scale mining sector operates within the framework of international best practices and sustainable development.
This year small scale gold producers are targeting to produce about 30 tonnes of the yellow metal.
