The Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, Hon Obert Mpofu, says government has noted with concern political parties, civic society organisations and individuals who are prematurely announcing election results.
Addressing a press conference last night, Minister Mpofu, said such organisations and individuals are violating the Electoral Act and the official declaration of results is the prerogative of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.
Minister Mpofu said such actions have the capacity to cause alarm and despondency.
He warned that those who continue to violate the law will be arrested regardless of their political stature.
However, Minister Mpofu implored citizens to uphold tenets of peace and unity during this period when elections results are being announced.
He also applauded citizens for remaining peaceful during the harmonised elections stating that the country was developing into a mature democracy.
