ZCC PREACHES PEACE

Written by on August 2, 2018

The Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) has urged Zimbabweans to continue upholding peace during the post elections period.

ZCC Midlands Provincial Coordinator Reverent Lizwe Nyoni said Zimbabwean citizens must unite and maintain the peaceful environment that has been prevailing before and during the elections.

He also commended all citizens for maintaining peace on elections day.

This follows running battles between MDC Alliance supporters and the army in the streets of Harare yesterday, following the announcements of the parliamentary elections which were overwhelmingly won by Zanu PF.

The protesters alleged that the election had been rigged after the ruling party won 145 seats, while the MDC Alliance won 60 seats with the Joice Mujuru led NPF winning one seat and the other one going to Temba Mliswa who ran as an independent candidate.
