Three people have reportedly lost their lives in Gweru, following the outbreak of typhoid in the city.
Gweru Town Clerk Elizabeth Gwatipedza who confirmed the development to YA FM News, said the water borne disease has affected parts of Mkoba high density suburb.
Gwatipedza added that the typhoid outbreak is likely to have been caused by the use of borehole water, which she said is not safe for drinking.
This comes amidst public outcries by Gweru residents, who blamed the local authority for putting their lives at health risk.
In a telephone interview, Cornelias Selipiwe of the Gweru Residents Association said the council must decommission the use of borehole water in the city.
