Harare magistrate Francis Vhitorini yesterday granted $50 bail to the 27 MDC Alliance activists who were arrested last week on public violence charges
The activists, who include seven women, were charged with inciting the election protestors which left seven people dead when army details fired live ammunition at the protesters.
The suspects, through their lawyers are denying the allegations arguing that they were caught in the cross fire and were not part of the protests.
State prosecutor, Michael Reza, told the court that the suspects triggered the protests and had a hand in the deaths.
The state also alleges that the accused were photographed setting cars on fire and attacking law enforcement agents.
