Residents in the Great dyke have bemoaned the increase in the price of bread and other wheat products over the weekend.
The price of a loaf of bread rose by 10% from $1 to $1.10
Residents in Mberengwa, Zvishavane and Mashava that spoke to Ya FM said the price increase has disturbed their budgets and made life difficult for them. They said they fear that prices of other basic commodities will rise as well.
The price increase has been attributed to an increase in the price of flour. Figures from the Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe indicate that the price of wheat has increased by 10% in the last 90 days from $375 per metric tonne to $415.
