ENERGY MINISTRY ASSURES CITIZENS OF SUFFICIENT FUEL STOCKS.

Energy and Power Development Minister Dr Jorum Gumbo says the country now has sufficient levels of fuel in stock. Dr Gumbo said the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe had increased its foreign currency allocation to USD 35 million a week from the previous USD 20 million while Trafigura and Sakunda have provided Government with 100 million litrres of fuel , which will only paid after 12 months.
Dr Gumbo , however warned service stations selling fuel in rands and united states dollars an exercise he deemed illegal as all the fuel suppliers are given forex by the RBZ.
Minister Gumbo dismissed claims that they were fuel stations importing fuel on their own hence the decision to sell petrol and diesel in rands and united states dollars
Turning to measures put in place to ensure compliance Dr Gumbo said governement had directed the Zimbabwe Republic Police and Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory officers to monitor and inspect service stations. He urged the public to report any wrong doing by the officers and service stations on 04 799 193
In Zvishavane Puma garage is alleged to be aiding the black market while one in Mandava is accused of selling petrol and diesel in hard currency .
