Meteorological Department Services says farmers  can start growing short season varieties following slight showers that continue being experienced in some parts of the country.

In a telephone interview with YAFM news,  Met department official James Ngoma  said  Farmers have been advised to plant drought tolerant crops that are able to withstand the harsh climatic conditions  predicted to be prevailing this year.

He said the country will  be experiencing  Elnino effects  and urged members of the public to pay attention to weather forecast especially this rainy season.
As of Wednesday, some  places such as Masvingo  received above 15 to 20 ml, with the  eastern highlands  such as parts of Manicaland  exceeding 50 ml.
