Stakeholders’ efforts to bring sanity on murder cases in Mberengwa is failing to bear fruits as murder-related cases continue to escalate with the area reporting three cases last weekend.
Maribha and Rengu villagers were left stunned after witnessed uncommon murder incidents under similar conditions.
Mr. Dzingai Zhou 33 of Maribha village is under armed guard at Musume hospital for stabbing Kennedy Shumba, a local neighborhood with a knife.
Mr. Victor Gwase the owner of the homestead where the incident occurred said Shumba was stabbed while trying to handcuff Zhou who gained access to his homestead during his absence.
In a similar incident at Rengu village, another man was stoned to death for killing a village headman who had warned him of his bad vices of dating minors and stealing from the community.
National Police Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed receiving double murder cases but promised to provide finer details when available.
Police working with traditional leaders have been trying to engage Mberengwa and Zvishavane communities so as to find a permanent solution in ending violence and murder cases which are rampant in those mining areas.
