The ”together protecting the environment ” adage made full sense in Mberengwa yesterday as local miners joined hands in a national clean-up campaign with Environmental Management Agency setting aside their alleged cat and mouse relationship for a common cause.
Speaking on the sidelines of the cleanup campaign at Mberengwa Business Centre, Zimbabwe Miners Federation Chairperson Makumba Nyenje said as miners they feel the need to join forces in taking care of the environment they work in.
EMA’s Mberengwa District Environmental Officer, Innocent Chisi applauded miners saying the organisation will continue working with such stakeholders in ensuring a clean and sustainable environment.
Mberengwa business association Chairperson Mr. Alton Bvudzijena noted that the national clean-up campaigns should not be annual events as litter affects communities every day.
