Chief Mazvihwa has raised concern over the prolonged time taken by authorities to retrieve the decaying body of illegal miner, Phineas Moyo who gained access to a shaft at Sabi gold mine and got trapped and died with his body still unretrieved since the 24th of December last month. .
Moyo’s family and community members confirmed seeing his body lying hanged in a shaft.
Chief Mazvihwa told YAFM news in an interview that if the body remains permanently in the shaft, it will create a bad omen for employees and the community hence plans should be urgently made to give the deceased a decent burial.
Chief Mazvihwa however encouraged artisanal miners to desist from entering the mine illegally for gold mining to avoid unnecessary loss of lives. Illegal mining once invaded Sabi Gold Mine in 2017 where wrangles and loss of lives were reported ,a situation which called for government intervention through provision of tighter security.
