Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has advised members of the public to disregard social media messages on the pricing of fuel in United State dollars saying they are malicious statements aimed at causing anarchy and pessimism in the sector as they emanate from neither the organization nor the ministry of energy and power development.
A statement released by ZERA, the organisation’s acting chief executive officer Eddington Mazambani advised the public that regulations on fuel pricing contained in the statutory instrument 80 of 2014, 20 and 100 of 2015 have not changed.
He advised motorists to desist from panic buying of fuel as such products are hazardous when stored in undesignated places.
Meanwhile, motorist within the Great Dyke raised concerns saying they are exposed to the worst if they refuse to pay in US dollars as they do not have easy access to the commodity.
They urged the government to effect tight security that will protect them when buying fuel.
