Government  Veterinary officer for  Mberengwa and Zvishavane Doctor  Claudius Maguranyanga   said foot and mouth disease has to be prevented  in all costs as it impacts negatively on the country’s economy through shutting  down trade opportunities with other countries.
In a telephone interview with our news reporter Prince Purazeni , Doctor Maguranyanga stated that  they always carry out campaigns on animal health within the two districts where foot  and mouth disease remains  on  high alert .
His comment comes amid the  country’s government  has banned importation of live cloven hoofed animals and their products from South Africa on Tuesday following an outbreak of foot and mouth in some parts of Limpopo with Botswana also taking similar action.
