WOMEN, YOUTHS IN MINING SCEPTICAL OVER CRIMINALS TERRORISING THEIR OPERATIONS

Women and Youths in mining say as vulnerable groups in the industry, they continue fearing for their lives during operations as suspected criminals who are supposed to be in the hands of the low continue walking free and  terrorizing their mines..

Chairperson for Zvishavane Women in mining Mrs Shuvai Maphosa  urged law enforcement agents to deal with  criminal suspects  so as to give sanity within the mining industry

Mberengwa Youths in Mining Vice Chairperson, Beauty Hove also  echoed similar  sentiments saying  they are facing challenges  with working productively  knowing very well that  criminals are on the loose
There is an upsurge in cases of robbery within the two mining towns Zvishavane and Mberengwa with the recent case  involving  two police officers as suspects.
In a related issue, Lower Gweru ward 8 village head Coldwell Mantiya  says recent  increase in crime  levels in the  community is worrisome.
 In an interview , Matinya attributed  the upsurge  to the harsh economic conditions prevailing  in the country causing young people to become desperate and restless.
 He called on government , cooperates and  local business people to assist youths through generating funds for livelihoods sustaining projects to keep them occupied and self depend to avoid increase in criminal activities.
