SUSPECTED CARMLARK ARMED ROBBERS WHO WERE DENIED BAIL CONTEST FOR TRIAL DATE BEFORE REGIONAL COURT

11 suspected armed robbers singled in robbing a Chinese mining company, Carmlark Investments will appear before Regional court in Gweru on Friday with their lawyers contesting for the trial date.
The accused who were denied bail reappeared before Zvishavane Magistrates court last Friday facing charges of contravening Section 126 of the Criminal law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9.23 defined as robbery.
It is in the State’s case that on December 12 ,2018 the accused hiked a Toyota fun cargo and were dropped at Mimosa turnoff and proceeded to Carmlark Investments where they stole valuables which include a C2 pistol with 25 rounds of ammunition, gold amalgam, computer accessories, cellphones and money in various currencies, they then fled with the company’s Toyota Hilux which they later ditched in Zvishavane CBD.
On December 25 one of the cellphones was tracked down to one of the accused persons leading to his arrest.On December 30 one of the officers who was part of the investigating team was also arrested in connection with the same case.
The accused were remanded in custody to February 1 where they will appear at the regional court in Gweru.
