Members of the judiciary have bemoaned the ever-increasing number of crimes of passion and murders over minor issues in the Midlands province.
Speaking at the official opening of the 2019 legal year in Gweru recently Bulawayo High Court Judge Justice Thompson Mabhikwa says the Gweru high court has 17 murder cases set for trial in February alone.
He also indicated that the level of mining-related violence and crime in the Midlands is a cause for concern.
The tail end of the year 2018 saw a marked increase in cases of violent crime in the Midlands Province as the so-called “Mabhemba Boys” terrorized the mining towns of Mberengwa, Zvishavane, Kwekwe, and Shurugwi.
