Consumers in the Midlands province have bemoaned the current scarcity and price hike of bread in the province.
Residents that spoke to Ya FM News said ….. and in Gweru consumers said a loaf now costs $2.50 from about $1.40 per loaf previously adding that the margin is too much and they can no longer afford to buy bread on a daily basis.
The staff of a local Supermarket who spoke on condition of anonymity said suppliers are no longer consistent in supplying bread to retailers, which is now a major challenge to both retailers and consumers.
The Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe Media and Public Relations Manager Garikai Chaunza says the bread price increase is not linked to flour cost drivers, as supply price to bakers has remained constant.
