CHROME MINERS BEMOAN ABUSE BY CHINESE INVESTORS

Written by on March 27, 2019

Chrome miners are pleading with the government to extend its authorithy in the pricing and payments methods as Chinese investors who are empowered  are imposing a system that is not balanced.Miners argue that they use Chinese equipment like millers  under a contract agreement  of selling their mineral to the owner at a price which remain stagnant at  US $35 a tonne.Miners called on the government to review the pricing to ensure a win-win situation between them and these foreign investors. They also argue that the price of diesel and cost of living for employees rose but the actual cost of chrome remained static a development that has reduced their operations into a mere business of only meeting expenses.Through their contract arrangement , the Chinese offer equipment and transport to owners who are mandated to sell the mineral to them.  Meanwhile government offered a rebate for miners to get foreign currency but chrome miners say they are yet to enjoy the privileges.
