OWNERSHIP WRANGLE AT PEACE MINE IMPACT NEGATIVELY ON COMMUNITY

Ownership wrangle continue at Silobela’s Peace Gold Mine ,with traditional leaders calling for sanity restoration as the mine,which is a Community Share Ownership Scheme initiative , was no longer benefiting the intended community. The Mine which is under Chief Sigodo area with the influence of other local traditional leaders including chief Malisa has for a long time been characterized with ownership clashes , a development that has exposed the mine to hosting illegal miners. In a telephone interview with yafm reporter Portia Muzorava, Chief Malisa said confusion has been the order at the once productive mine with police and the ministry of mines paying several visits to restore peace and order but to no avail.Peace Mine was closed in 2016 amid clashes which saw a massive vandalism of state of the art equipment awarded to the Mine by the government.
