FARMERS UNDER CHIEF MAPANZURE BATTLE BLACK LEG OUTBREAK

Black leg outbreak has been reported in Rusvinge, Mapazuli and Mhondongori areas under chief Mapanzure with farmers calling for urgent intervention by government as they are loosing their valuable livestock.
One farmer, from Mapazuli Mr Tichaona Sibanda told Great Dyke News that the disease is spreading and they are afraid of loosing their herds..Chief Mapanzure confirmed the outbreak and encouraged farmers to vaccinate their cattle and work hand in hand with specialists from veterinary services.Zvishavane-Mberengwa Veterinary Officer Dr Claudius Maguranyanga urged farmers to purchase vaccines as the department does not offer black leg vaccines.
He however encouraged farmers to consult veterinary officers near them to assist with knowledge and administering of the vaccines.Black leg is a disease which causes inflammation of muscle tissue to cattle and sheep especially of young age.
