ZCTU SPEAKS ON PENSIONERS AND RETRENCHED EMPLOYEES

Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Union (ZCTU) says pensioners and retrenched workers in the country  are going for months without payment.In an interview ZCTU general secretary Japhet Moyo said they have received reports from pension companies saying that companies default  pension fee payments  thus they fail to pay the workers.He added that companies singled  including Goldfields of Mazowe Limited, Goldfields of Shamva Limited and Redwing Mine are struggling and  are on the verge of closure as this has negative impact to   employees.Metallon Corporation is Zimbabwe’s largest gold mining company, operating four gold mines throughout the country and owe tens of millions of dollars to some of its service providers and in February, the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) took Metallon Corporation to court to compel the gold miner to settle a $9.3 million bill for power supplied to three of its mines.
