Vendors say high and inconsistent prices on fruits and vegetables from the markets are elbowing them out of business.

Vendors who spoke to Great Dyke news from various vending places within the great dyke expressed concern saying they are no longer selling for profit but to keep in touch with their customers whom they fear losing if they suspend the business

.They also pleaded with government to also control prices for informal markets as they are also basic in people’s day to day lives.

Tomatoes are currently selling at $ RTGS1 for 3 or 4 with a kilogram fetching for at least $RTGS4 . Onions cost $5 a KG with bananas going for almost $3.50 a kg
Producers however attribute the prices to demand and scarcity during this winter season.
