ARTISTS CONDEMN CYBER-ABUSE

AND IN THE ARTS… As Zimbabwe commemorates National Culture week Female musicians have condemned cyber-bullying and the abuse which have forced some artists to give up.
In an interview NAMA Award winning gospel musician Respina Patai, popularly known as Mai Patai, says musicians are constantly being cyber-bullied by social media users.
She revealed that she was abused on social media in the aftermath of winning the 2019 NAMA award.
Earlier in the year another gospel artist Fungisai said the abuse also affects families of the artistes.
Speaking at the launch of the 2019 National Culture Week President Emerson Mnangagwa called on authorities and stakeholders to create a conducive environment for the creative talents to thrive.
Cyber-bullying or cyber-harassment is a form of bullying or harassment using electronic means. Cyber-bullying and cyber-harassment are also known as online bullying. It has become increasingly common, especially among teenagers. Harmful bullying behavior can include posting rumors, threats, sexual remarks, or hate speech.
